Tutoring

Primary School Tutoring

As every parent knows, the early years are key to building strong foundations and a positive relationship with learning. Children thrive with someone to slow down, explain things differently and build (or rebuild) confidence that may have disappeared when learning has previously felt frustrating.

Whether your child is finding reading difficult, avoiding maths, needing extension and enrichment, or simply benefits from one-to-one attention, every session is tailored to how they learn best. My goal isn’t just to improve NAPLAN results. It’s to help children enjoy learning again and leave each lesson believing they’re increasingly capable, curious and creative learners.

• Reading foundations and comprehension, writing & spelling

• Mathematics

• Confidence & study habits

• Extension & enrichment

• Homework support

Secondary School Tutoring

As students move through secondary school, the challenge often shifts from understanding individual concepts to managing greater independence, workload and confidence.

I support students from Years 7 to 10 across a broad range of subjects, as well as selected Year 11 and 12 subjects, including Psychology, English and Health and Human Development, together with the theory, research and written components of other subjects including Physical Education and Art. I help students strengthen foundational skills, develop effective study habits and prepare for assessments with greater confidence. Sessions are collaborative and encouraging, with explanations, resources and strategies adapted to the individual rather than expecting every student to fit the same program.

• English and literacy

• Mathematics

• Science and humanities

• Psychology

• Health and Human Development

• Organisation, study skills and assessment preparation

Homeschool Tutoring & Learning Support

Home education gives families the freedom to shape learning around their child, but it can also be helpful to have another trusted adult bring fresh explanations, structure and momentum. I work with homeschooling families in Templestowe and surrounding areas (though private or NDIS arrangements) providing personalised one-to-one support that complements each family’s broader learning program.

Sessions may focus on literacy, numeracy, individual subjects, project work, extension or rebuilding confidence after a difficult school experience. We can follow a clear sequence of skills, build learning around the student’s interests, or combine both. I keep in touch with parents and adjust goals as the student’s needs, confidence and independence develop.

• Literacy and numeracy

• Curriculum support and consolidation

• Interest-led projects

• Extension and enrichment

• Confidence, motivation and routine

• Neurodivergent-friendly learning support

What to Expect

Before tutoring begins, I’ll ask about your child’s strengths, interests, current challenges and what you hope support might achieve. The first session often includes some shared time with parents or caregivers present so we can talk through priorities and help your child settle in without feeling that they are being tested or judged in any way. Learning is about feeling connected and capable.

From there onwards, each lesson is shaped around the individual student, moving towards agreed goals while adapting to what they need on the day. Sessions may include explicit teaching, conversation, books, games, practical materials, technology, handwriting activities or movement – whatever best supports engagement and understanding. I keep brief notes, notice patterns over time and adjust the balance of support, challenge and independence as your child develops.

• One-to-one, personalised sessions

• A calm and encouraging environment

• Clear communication with parents and caregivers

• Practical and engaging resources

• Goals reviewed as needs change

• Tutoring in Templestowe, in your home, or online via Zoom or FaceTime if needed
